Kevin Funk: Curriculum Vitae

At Miltenyi Biotec, I serve as the Technical Lead of the DevOps Platform, supporting an engineering organization of nearly 200 software developers. My team builds and operates the platform that enables multiple product teams to develop, build, test, and deliver software efficiently and at scale.

A key part of my role is designing and evolving the organization's engineering platform, with a strong focus on high-performance CI/CD infrastructure capable of supporting large, complex C/C++ codebases. I work closely with development teams to improve developer productivity, streamline release processes, and ensure our tooling scales with the organization's needs.

Beyond platform engineering, I drive cross-team technical initiatives and help define software development best practices and engineering workflows. My responsibilities include software lifecycle management, third-party dependency governance, in-house library management, and increasingly the adoption of Generative AI to automate development workflows, improve engineering efficiency, and enhance the overall developer experience.

Past:

At KDAB I juggled between multiple roles: I've been a consultant, developer, project manager and solution engineer at the same time. The work was usually centered all around Qt and C++.

As Director of Solution Engineering I was responsible for first customer contact in the EMEA region: Gathering technical requirements from the customers, preparing proof of concepts, estimates and handing over closed partnerships to our engineers.

As part of my development work I regularly contribute to open-source projects such as the Qt framework, GammaRay, KDStateMachineEditor, Buildbot and a couple of others. I regularly hold talks at the various Qt-related conferences such as Qt World Summit (previously Qt Dev Days / QtCon) or smaller C++ related conferences such as emBO++ in 2017.

My project management duties span over several customer projects where I'm handling the communication with the customer and organization of our development teams.
